Wheaton, One Last Time

As Comprehensive Exams come to a close I have the sad realization that this may be my last time in Chicago for a while. A summer city like no other. It seems everyday there is some fun, exciting and sometimes free going on somewhere in the city. The weather this year has been really nice too, not too incredibly humid by any means.

It will be nice to be back in Oregon and see some friends along the way, but I will miss Chicago next summer for sure.

The Intercultural Graduates

Classes went really well this summer too. We had an excellent Australian Professor who presented a fascinating overview of History and Theological perspectives. All I have left is a research project and a distance learning course.

After I head back to Oregon I will off to my new assignment; Teaching at Tibet University. I am excited for the opportunity and excited for the new culture I will be able to experience.

Back in Classes

Well I am back in classes in Thailand. It would seem this is my last Thailand class session, bummer. The material is good and I do love the city of Chaing Mai. Although I a sad to admit I got my first parking ticket on my little motorbike. It cost 200 baht (about 6 bucks) and took 15 minutes out of my night. Not too bad I guess. Well I am about to get back to my paper writing.

In the meantime... I think I am going to try blogspot: blogger.com/vanhalligan

So Long...

This may be my last entry...

The Great Fire-wall of China has got the best of me. I am going to try this one: http://mrhalligan.spaces.live.com

In the meantime I sit in my parents apartment in Japan. If you told me a week ago I was going to be in Japan I wouldn't have believed you, but here I am! It is kinda fun when plans come out of nowhere.

I had a new route through Shenyang rather then Beijing. After I arrived in Japan I met up with my parents and went to a fellowship called "J-house." It was an amazing service that taught the Word and got the congregation excited about what the Truth in Japan. If you are ever in Osaka you should stop by.

In other news... the mets lost and finalized the one of the worst collapses in MLB history. Nice work guys. And my dad, the evil empire cheering, decided to rub it in with the local drink.

the pain

In other news, our new teammates in Siping are great. And we are still taking weekly trips to the orphanage (when we aren't traveling to Japan of course.)

Chicago... good times

Kingston Mines, yea it pretty much rocked. we stayed until about midnight. They had music until 4am!! Only in Chicago.
Kingston Mines
There were two stages, each was on a different side of the club. After one band finished the other started up on the other side. So sure enough there was a migration of people after each set.

We all had a pretty good time. It was a long day, but it was also a lot of fun.

I am now in California, but I do love Chicago.
